These group discussion charts summarize discussions engaged in by study group no. 1 during the 21st round of the High-Level Civil Servants Program at the SLTI on November 30, 1984.
[Content]
This chart shows the proceedings of a discussion by study group members on attitude in preparation for the 1988 Olympic Games. They concluded that the significance of holding the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul was the fact that the international community recognized our country’s potential to become an advanced country, and carried out this discussion to highlight South Korea as a nation with an advanced culture through the 1988 Olympic Games. They pointed out the following problems: jaywalking, violation of vehicular traffic regulations, violation of various street regulations, production and sale of junk food and harmful food, sale of illegal tickets, disorder in stadiums, disorder in tourist attractions, and rudeness towards customers. They proposed the following solutions: get on the bus one by one at the bus stop, develop the habit of crossing the street at a crosswalk or pedestrian overpass, enforce traffic regulations, vitalize the activities of consumer protection organizations to create a movement to avoid buying junk food, develop a mature type of sportsmanship to encourage and applaud game losers in the stadium, collect one’s own garbage, refrain from pressure-selling, and be kind to customers.
