This is a group discussion report of the 122nd round of the Female Saemaul Leaders Program (221st round in total, June 14 to 19, 1982) at the Saemaul Leaders Training Institute (SLTI).
The topic of the group research and discussion by Discussion Group 1 of the 122nd round of the Female Saemaul Leaders Program at the SLTI was “ways of revitalizing Urban Saemaul Undong.”
The problems identified by the group members were: frustration with senior leaders whose dedication had waned over time, lack of courage and persuasiveness as a leader, distrust and lack of dialogue between neighbors, criticism of Saemaul projects as being hastily implemented with insufficient planning, and difficulty of mobilizing manpower.
The suggested solutions and response measures were: taking the initiative to pursue projects in creative ways, working with a modest attitude and strong conviction as a leader, teaching residents a sense of order based on public morality, and establishing, supporting, and using a new community credit cooperative and recommending it to one’s neighbors.
This document shows the results of group research and discussion by trainees of the Female Saemaul Leaders Program on the topic of “ways of revitalizing Urban Saemaul Undong.” These female Saemaul leaders suggested taking the initiative in Saemaul Undong projects and working with a modest attitude and strong conviction as ways of ensuring the continuous advancement of the movement.
